Fruit rules cross country final leg

Despite the early morning rains, Fruit and 76 other runners participated in the Northern Marianas Athletics-organized race with 37 coming from Saipan Community School. The Marianas High School’s Fruit clocked in 20:07 to beat five other runners in the U18 division and join Eda on the winner’s list. Eda won the first two stagings of the annual cross country race, the last on Oct. 18 after registering 16:47.
Agape Christian School’s Ou Yan Zhi finished more than one minute behind Fruit with a time of 21:21, while Matthew Terry, also of MHS, came in third (23:50). Isaiah Laniyo (24:02), Robert Jomar Malate (24:05) and Michael Dy (25:04) completed the U18 runners.
Gabrielle Race was the lone participant in the girls side, finishing second overall in U18 division with a time of 20:26.
Mt. Carmel School’s Nathaniel Lim topped the boys’ U14 division (13:18), while Lyka Sally of Hopwood Junior High School duplicated the feat in the girls class (13:40).
SCS runners placed second and third in both categories with Haruya Eda (13:21) and Seung Bin Bae (13:22) completing the Top 3 in the boys’ side, and Annabelle Sablan (15:48) and Celina Wu (19:21) in the girls division. Alex Chen also of SCS and Kiana Valencia came in fourth in the U14 class with times of 23:44 and 20:23, respectively.
Ken Song (6:12) and Sang Won (6:28) had a 1-2 finish for SCS in the U12 boys’ division, while Whispering Palms’ Blake Mister came in third (6:29). Carol Lee (SCS, 6:26); Desrei Camacho (SCS, 7:47) and Dychhya Bhujel (Dandan Middle School, 9:46) were the finishers in the girls class.
The U10 Top 3 finishers were WPS’ Kaden Church (6:24) and Dylan Mister (6:41), and William S. Reyes’ John Mark (6:49) in the boys side, while Victoria Jade C. Torres (San Vicente Elementary School, 7:10); Nathanette Blas (Koblerville Elementary School, 7:28) and SCS’ Sedrei Camacho (7:29) prevailed in the girls division.
Kaito (SCS, 6:42); Robert DeCourtney (WPS, 7:22) and Jesus Sablan (SCS, 8:01); and Hilah Bacani (SCS, 8:47), Kylie Ann Sablan (SVES, 8:53) and Jenny Zhang (SCS, 9:01) finished 1-2-3 in the boys and girls U8 divisions. (Jon Perez)
