Fruit hat-trick gives Paire win over Tan Holdings
Paire rallied past Tan Holdings FC, 3-2, in the boys U15 division match in the 2014 NMIFA Spring Youth Football League last Friday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
Anthony Fruit led the come-from-behind victory, as he recorded a hat-trick in the close win, posting all his goals in the second half.
The second frame started with Tan Holdings on top, 2-0, after Mareko Tekopua fired the first goal in the game in 22nd minute and Josh Galarion nailed the second one two minutes later. Tan Holdings kept the driver’s seat in the first half, but lost it in the second when it failed to stop Fruit.
Fruit began his string of three goals in the 61st minute and got his second 10 minutes later before delivering the go-ahead in the 76th. Paire hung in there to steal the victory.
In the other boys U15 match last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field, MP United clobbered Shirley’s FC, 11-0. Sun Jun Tenorio anchored the demolition, tallying five goals.
Still at the Hopwood pitch, Renita Fleming and Guinevere Borja canned a pair of goals to lift Paire Football Club to a 4-1 win over Shirley’s FC in the first girls U15 division game last Saturday afternoon.
Fleming hit her first goal in the 17th minute, while Borja also scored in the first half (25th minute) for Paire’s 2-0 lead. A shot from Diana Maniacop in the 36th minute helped Shirley’s stay afloat in the first 45 minutes of play. However, Paire put the game away with two more seconds in the second half with Borja getting her second in the 58th and Fleming duplicating the latter’s feat 11 minutes later.
Two other matches in the girls U15 division took place last weekend with Tan Holdings routing Kanoa FC, 8-1, and Matansa and MP United having a draw, 1-1.
Krizel Mae Tuazon powered Tan Holdings to the easy win with her four goals, while Chloe Salvosa chipped in three. Catherine Joy Barroza logged the other goal for Tan Holdings, while Starmana Francisco was the lone scorer for Kanoa FC.
In the Matansa-MP United tussle, the former lit up the scoreboard early off Lyka Sally’s goal right into the third minute of the game. However, Matansa failed to keep the shaky lead and was force to settle for a draw when Gillian Villagomez drilled the equalizer in the 80th minute.
In the morning games at the Hopwood pitch, Paire FC and MP United notched separate wins.
Paire topped Matansa FC, 4-2. Ryu Tanzawa had a pair of goals for Paire, which drew one goal apiece from Mason Fruit and Ethan Dickinson. Kenneth Mafnas logged both goals in Matansa’s losing cause.
Tanapon Unsa also had twin goals to lead MP United to the shutout win over Tan Holdings FC.
