“Friends for Life,” a group of high school friends, bonded again to join the Marianas Visitors Authority’s Beautify My Marianas campaign on March 7, 2015.
“We started our cleanup this time at 7:30am since we would be cleaning for two miles,” said the group in their after-action report. “Now we are nine people who are participating; one of our friends can’t show up anymore. He has a stable job and we understand his situation.”
The group collected 260 lbs of trash from Oleai Beach to Sugar Dock, their second cleanup in recent months.
“We made ourselves tired picking up rubbish off the ground for two long miles, but it wasn’t bad because we talked to [keep] ourselves out of boredom. There were no complaints. We collected 12 bags full of trash.”
The “Beautify My Marianas” program offers $100 for each 1-mile cleanup in assigned areas. For more information or an application, visit the MVA homepage at www.mymarianas.com. (MVA)
