In an effort to increase awareness on maintaining good health and to promote education on disease prevention, the US Pinoys for Good Governance Marianas chapter, in collaboration with the Marianas Eye Institute, will be holding a free three-hour health screening on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, from 8am to 11am, at the Minachom Atdao pavilion in Susupe, Saipan.

Registration starts at 7:30am and will be continuing until 10am.

People who would like to avail of the blood sugar tests are advised fast or to refrain from eating and drinking liquids preferably 12 hours or two hours prior to the actual testing.

“This is the fourth health screening that USP4GG Marianas chapter will be hosting for year 2014. We started doing the free health screening in the CNMI in December 2012. Several key metrics include blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, height, body mass index and vision. Knowing where your health stands help you start realistic personal health goals for the rest of this year and for year 2015. Free health screening events help members of our community take charge of their health. Further, providing such free services not only signifies volunteerism but is also a gesture of a gift to our community during this Christmas Season,” said Dr. Celia Lamkin, chairperson of USP4GG Marianas chapter for CNMI and Guam.

Janelle Santiago of Marianas Eye Institute, Valerie Jean Lacsina, Jeffrey Castelo, Mary Deala, Maribeth Gavan and Shanna Layne Mendoza of Marianas Medical Center, USP4GG volunteers, private individuals, and others will be providing the services.

In addition to these health screening services, we will also provide free haircut and manicure to the first 10 members of the community on a first come, first served basis. There will be a registration drive for Philippine TESDA certification for overseas Filipino workers during this event, added Lamkin.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children for free vision screening.

Information on disease prevention such as hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, stroke, heart Attack, among others, will be distributed at the health screening site.

The USP4GG Marianas chapter is committed to provide free health screening services to all members of the community regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, citizenship, and religion. (USP4GG)
