Four 8-ball wins in a row for Cepeda
Patrick Cepeda ran his winning streak to four consecutive weeks when he took Sunday’s 19th Hole Happy Hour 8-Ball Tournament championship.
Cepeda moved to the top of the winners bracket with wins over Norman Tenorio, Luis Aldan, and Taylor Watanabe. Watanabe bested Ken Phillips and Ben Cepeda before losing to Patrick Cepeda.
Phillips came back through the loser’s bracket, eliminating Aldan, Ben Cepeda, and Watanabe. He couldn’t get past Cepeda and had to settle for second place.
The Sunday tournament is a double elimination following Billiards Congress of America rules, with sign-up starting at 4pm. The entry fee is only $5.
Thursday is set aside for 9-ball, with sign-up starting at 7pm. There is a $10 entry fee.
The single elimination tournament is a race-to-two, but experienced 9-ball players must win additional games-as determined by management- to advance.
Saturday is for dart players, with a blind draw, double-elimination tournament starting at 7:30pm.
First, second, and third place finishers in all contests take home trophies and split the pot.
The contests are held at 19th Hole, located in Lower Navy Hill. Coming from Garapan, it is just before you get to the Bank of Hawaii traffic light, past Grand Market and before Jane’s Barbecue.
Players can warm up with an ice-cold bucket of beer for $10 from 3pm to 7pm. Beer in cans are only $2.50 after 7pm. (PR)
