Former Tinian mayor San Nicolas opens new law office
Shortly after his term as Tinian mayor expired, Joey Patrick San Nicolas opened his new law office at the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.
“I have always loved the practice of law, private practice especially,” San Nicolas told Saipan Tribune yesterday.
As a general practitioner, he will focus on civil, business, criminal, family, and probate law.
As for being mayor, San Nicolas felt good about serving the people of Tinian.
“I was fortunate to have such a patient staff and management, as well as an awesome leadership team in the Tinian [Legislative] Delegation and Tinian Municipal Council,” he said.
He said he also had a great relationship with the late governor Eloy Inos and Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, and with their friends in the federal government and U.S. military.
“It was indeed a privilege and an honor to have served as mayor of Tinian,” San Nicolas said.
He first opened his law office on Saipan in 2005. In 2012, then-governor Benigno R. Fitial appointed him as an attorney general, replacing Edward Buckingham who had resigned and left the CNMI.
In July 2014, San Nicolas resigned as AG primarily to prepare for his bid to become mayor of Tinian. That year’s election, he won as mayor by defeating the incumbent Ramon M. Dela Cruz.
In last November’s election, San Nicolas opted not to seek re-election as mayor. Instead, he supported the candidacy of then-representative Edwin P. Aldan, who won.
