Former chief justice Demapan passes away

Former chief justice Miguel S. Demapan passed away at the Commonwealth Health Center this afternoon Saturday, Saipan Tribune learned from relatives and sources. He was 59.

Demapan, who had undergone surgeries in his battle against colon cancer, was rushed to CHC on Friday, a relative disclosed.

At 7pm today, family members and relatives and friends had just finished rosary at CHC’s chapel.

Citing health reasons, Demapan resigned from the high court on Sept.30, 2011 or after two decades of serving the CNMI Judiciary.
