Fooling ourselves
As all of us coming to a full circle on the issue of special election and matters concerning non-elected governor and lieutenant governor, the sloppy and lazy attention of the OAG and elected AG, the mystical absence of all our elected representative of the people and islands of the CNMI, the forgetfulness of lawyers in elected officials’ offices, the unintended consequences of the CNMI election commission just watching the flows of the mess being tossed and left unchecked by the wishful desires and wrongful discourse of the OAG and AG are problems not made by the people. When the CNMI Constitution and implementing laws that are being ignored, our inept attitude as a people to follow and question our elected leaders because we don’t want to hurt any one, are not imaginary and accidental disasters and turmoil that came out of nowhere. This is a societal problem. But, we ended just fooling ourselves. Hence, it is better to stir up a question without deciding it than to decide it without stirring it up. Call your elected people representatives and island representatives and ask them what they think and let the public know.
Just one thought for all of us to endure and come to grip with as John Lubbock said, “in truth, people can generally make time for what they choose to do, it is not the time but the will that is lacking.” This is the point here, and if we stay the course in what is being forced against our will as the sovereign and power of this government, then our laws, our constitution, our people, and the social order and fabric of our existence are being left to rot, trampled, tossed, and shoved as day’s fly by our elected leaders. Hence, our laws and constitution do not mean a thing. Take your frustration and doubt and ask your precinct and island representatives what is keeping them from being a point of contact to all these unanswered question they need to make good at. It is sad and we learn well that those who make their dress a principal part of themselves will, in general, become no more value than their dress.
