Former governor Juan N. Babauta said he and her running mate Dr. Rita Sablan are focusing on positive things and talking about the issues during their campaign for the Nov. 6 general election.

In an interview early this week, Babauta said their team is working hard as he noted that every poll is a different election in the CNMI.

“We want to stay focus on our campaign. We want to stay positive,” he said.

Babauta and Sablan are running as independents for governor and lieutenant governor.

“I think that a lot of things are going on right now with respect to the campaign. We are seeing growing number of negativity,” the former governor said.

Babauta said they want to make sure that they stay positive and talk about the future.

“We want to talk about the now and the future, where we’re going from here for the better Commonwealth. That’s we’re all about,” he said.

Babauta and Sablan are looking into filing their candidacies on Tuesday, July 31.

Delegate Gregorio Kilili Sablan (Ind-MP) has expressed his support to the candidacies of Babauta and Sablan. Independent candidates and the Democratic Party are also supporting the Babauta-Sablan team.
