Based on information received from the national Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management, a tropical disturbance north of Chuuk could produce heavy rainfall across the Marianas through today, Tuesday, leading to localized flooding.

A flash flood watch is now in effect on Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through this afternoon.

The tropical disturbance may bring 3 to 6 inches of rain to the Marianas through this afternoon. Locally, higher amounts are possible as the disturbance moves through the Marianas today.

Roads in poor drainage areas could become temporarily flooded. Locations in low-lying areas and close to streams will be at risk of flooding.

The public is being advised to stay away from streams, drainage, ditches, and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility, and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
