First parking space for PWDs near Paseo now open
A new parking space reserved for persons with disabilities near Paseo de Marianas in Garapan was officially unveiled last Thursday.
Community advocate Jack Muña said it is the only parking space for persons with disabilities in that area.
He initiated the steps to having that part of the street near Kinpachi Restaurant and across Hyatt Regency Saipan on Coral Tree Avenue be dedicated for PWDs.

Yvonne Reyes Kapira, who was present at the unveiling, thanked Kinpachi owner Misako Kamata for her donation as the parking spot is a big help for her and the rest of the PWD community.
“This is the first time that I did this kind of community work,” Kamata said. ”As long as I can help, I will do it.”
DPW Secretary James Ada was thankful to be able to help and contribute to the worthwhile project.
“We want to be a part of this. This is the second that we did this year,” Ada said.
According to him, they are planning to add more PWD parking spaces in various places.
“There’s a need to add some more. We are just waiting for the number of whatever deficiency we have,” he added.
