Final Let’s Move Marianas mini expo tomorrow
Let’s Move Marianas will hold its last mini expo for the year on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School, from 7:30am to 10:30am.
“We’re inviting the whole community to come out,” Let’s Move Marianas chair Amber Mendiola said. “It’s open to the whole family, not just the kids.”
At the mini expo, children can take part in several physical activities and games. Families can also learn healthy eating habits.
Let’s Move Marianas’ partners such as Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research, Extension and Education Service, Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, and the Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority will also exhibit the different services they have.
“When they’re done, they get a gift for participating,” Mendiola said.
The Let’s Move Marianas expo was divided into various mini expos this year due to Typhoon Soudelor. The organization usually holds it every year at the Gilbert C Ada Gymnasium but that location is still undergoing repairs.
“We decided to go to the villages and cater to them,” Mendiola said. “It’s just something that we want to do in light of everything that’s been going on. At least it’s something positive to bring to the villages.”
Let’s Move Marianas held their mini expos at Hopwood Jr. High School as well as in Chacha Oceanview Middle School. Just last week, they also held one in conjunction with the JKPL Trunk Or Treat where kids were brought to the side of the library to participate in various activities.
Mendiola said it turned out to be a fun event where kids and even parents in costumes participated in various activities such as volleyball and obstacle courses.
Afterwards, kids were handed out fruits instead of candies.
