Final call for Art of War fighters
Fighters will test their grappling techniques anew when they compete in this Saturday’s Art of War 9: Grappling, Submission and Jiu jitsu Challenge at the TSL Sports Complex. (Roselyn B. Monroyo)
Trench Tech founder and event organizer Cuki Alvarez said those still interested to join the event will have until 5pm tomorrow to register. Participants must provide their name and weight and indicate the division they are going to compete in. Tournament fee is $10 per weight division and each participant can enter as many as three weight classes, provided he will compete in a higher weight category.
Fifty-four fighters have so far signed up and they will be competing in the flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, middlweight, heavyweight, and Absolute Gi Open divisions. Fighters in all weight classes are also allowed to join the Absolute Gi division. It is a free-for-all event with participants fighting for the gold.
Jasper Van Der Maas leads the list of fighters, as he entered four weight classes—lightweight, welterweight, middleweight and heavyweight divisions. Cousins Shane and Roman Alvarez joined three weight categories and will be contending for the lightweight, welterweight and Open division titles, while Adam Harris will be competing in the Open, heavyweight and middleweight classes.
Allan Aguon is entered in the flyweight, bantamweight and featherweight divisions, while Mark Anthony Manalus and Jordan Manglona signing up in the lightweight and welterweight, and bantamweight and featherweight categories, respectively.
Pinchi Rangamar joined the featherweight and lightweight divisions, while Garry Ray will be among the contenders in the flyweight and bantamweight classes. Josh Duenas registered in the bantamweight and featherweight categories. Jones Langu is also a two-division contender and entered the featherweight and lightweight divisions, while Pete Keju joined the welterweight and middleweight classes.
Bradlee Manalo, Jimmy Kaipat, Inwon Hwang, Jadrien Camacho, Lorenzo Attao—who is also an Open division fighter—and Austin Rios are the other flyweight division fighters, while Joe Duenas and Wildon Camacho are entered in the bantamweight.
LJ George signed up in the welterweight and middleweight classes, while Kier Agda and Ning Cepeda registered in the middleweight and heavyweight categories. Other fighters are Mark Nuique, Daniel Floor, Jarome Fujihara, Paul Ayuyu, Ben Flores, Deny Jepen (featherweight); Vince Masga, Ko Palacios, Lucas Nutting, Bradley Palacios, Rich Aldan, Elden Dela Cruz, Renz Benghit, Jun Taitingfong, Jamal Mresbang and Neil Camacho (lightweight); Rey Kim, Kimo Lizama, Tyndale Maraiur, Vince Pua, Donivan Mendiola and Cole Morrill (welterweight); and Slade “The Rage” Adelbai, Tiger Yatsui, Kelvin Fitial and Myron “The Natural” San Nicolas (heavyweight).
