Fiesta, Saipan Stevedore trip opponents in business caging
Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan and Saipan Stevedore tripped their respective foes in the continuation of the Inter-Commercial Business Basketball League last Thursday at Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Fiesta, one of the favorites that could threaten Pacific Island Club Saipan’s title bid, pulled away early in the game to cruise to a 93-80 win over Docomo Pacific, while Saipan Stevedore used a strong third quarter as cushion in completing a 50-49 win against Marpac.
Seldom-used Reynan Lansang scattered 12 points in the first half to help Fiesta establish a 44-30 spread at the turn.
Matt Duenas and Lerio Pagarao then took over after that to keep Docomo at bay and complete Fiesta’s third straight win.
Duenas paced Fiesta with 18 points, Lansang had 15, while Pagarao tallied 12. Five other players scored 6 or more with Elmer Esdrelon and R.J. Nonato combining for 16 markers.
Tony Diaz led Docomo with 31, while Robert Sanciangco added 18 markers. Jason Hayes and Rick Sanchez chipped in 8 points apiece.
In the first game, Mike Olaitiman and Nathan Kapileo finished with 15 and 14 points to lead Saipan Stevedore to a 50-49 win and in the process snap a three-game slide.
Frank Mettao was the lone Marpac player to finish in double figures with 20.
