Fiesta Guam to become 1st Crowne Plaza brand in Micronesia
GUAM—TanHoldings has signed a hotel management agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group PLC to manage Fiesta Resort Guam, which paves the way for the Tumon Bay hotel to rebrand as Crowne Plaza Resort Guam in early 2021.
Starting Oct. 15, 2019, the hotel will become part of the IHG system and a multi-million-dollar refurbishment plan is also in place to commence.
Fiesta Resort Guam is a 318-room resort located in the center of Tumon Bay with close proximity to major shopping areas. This refurbishment plan includes fully renovated ballroom, restaurant, fitness center, as well as new guestrooms to completely transform the hotel into an upscale resort experience. Guests of the hotel will also enjoy privileges and benefits available to IHG Rewards Club members.
IHG has extensive experience in operating hotels and resorts that cater to Japanese, Korean, and Chinese guests, with more than 400 hotels across China and Korea, and 32 hotels in Japan. This experience will bring about new inspiration and marketing for Guam, and further enhance offerings on the island.
TanHoldings CEO Jerry Tan said, “Guam is a global destination with a strong and growing inbound tourism footprint. Fiesta Resort Guam has enjoyed a privileged location and reputation over the years, but we know that to grow into the future we need a global brand like Crowne Plaza to attract guests from around the world and bring a new level of hospitality to Guam. We are excited to work with a great partner like IHG.”
Abhijay Sandilya, IHG’s vice president for Development-Australasia, Japan & Pacific, said, “We are so excited to add Guam as a new global destination for IHG guests. Guam is already a favorite with travelers from Korea, China, and Japan, and we look forward to growing their footprint with our world-class Crowne Plaza brand. We are proud to work with TanHoldings to deliver IHG’s signature True Hospitality, Pacific Island style.”
TanHoldings has been a long-standing member of Guam and CNMI communities, fully committed in investing into Micronesia and giving back to our community through its philanthropic arm, the Tan Siu Lin Foundation. TanHoldings firmly believes that this agreement and refurbishment will significantly elevate the positioning and service level of the resort and bring in a new exciting option for the visitors of Guam.
