Those who participate in the Northern Marianas College’s upcoming “Cash for College” workshop will qualify to have their NMC spring 2020 admission application fee and placement test fees waived. The waiver represents a savings of up to $75.

The first Cash for College workshop will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at the Tinian Campus in building D and the library from 10am to 1pm.

Cash for College workshops will also be held on Rota on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, in Building A-1, and Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, between buildings N and O on Saipan.

The purpose of the workshops is to assist students and their parents in maximizing scholarship opportunities that are available to students seeking to obtain a college education. The Cash for College workshops are open to new and ongoing students, as well as members in the community who are interested in finding money for college.

Participants of the workshop will be provided with personal, step-by-step assistance in completing college financial aid forms, focusing especially on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the CNMI Scholarship, municipal scholarships (like the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance), the TEACH Grant, and more.

Although not required, it is recommended that workshop participants bring a valid form of identification (e.g., a valid U.S. passport, copy of valid application for a U.S. passport, birth certificate, or green card), an official transcript from high school (at least three official copies), their high school diploma, a copy of 2017 and 2018 1040, copy of 2017 and 2018 W-2 (if not filing), and proof of CNMI residency, including proof of continuing residency. Applicants for SHEFA should bring a valid U.S. passport or a voter registration card.
