Federal court indicts man already facing charges for having sex with minor girl
A man who was arrested in December 2015 for allegedly having sex with his 14-year-old girlfriend he just met through Facebook, was apprehended by federal agents on Wednesday after he was indicted in District Court.
The indictment charged Glenn Ruben Jr., also known as Glenn Mafnas, with one count each of transfer of obscene material to a minor, receipt of child pornography, and enticement of a minor.
The indictment also seeks forfeiture of any property that the 22-year-old Ruben allegedly used in facilitating the offenses.
Ruben was taken to U.S. District Court for the NMI yesterday afternoon for his initial court appearance. Attorney Michael Dotts appeared as court-appointed counsel for Ruben. Assistant U.S. attorney James Benedetto appeared for the U.S. government.
Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona set the detention hearing for June 23.
According to the indictment, between Dec. 13 and 26, 2015, Ruben used the Internet to knowingly transfer obscene material to a 14-year-old child.
Ruben allegedly used the Internet to persuade and entice the child to engage in sexual activity.
It’s not clear whether the 14-year-old child is the same person that the defendant allegedly met through Facebook and had sex on a table in the hallway area of the former fire station in San Roque last December.
Police arrested Ruben in that San Roque incident and was charged in the Superior Court with sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree.
