A man was arrested for allegedly severely beating up his 14-year-old son with tangan tangan wood and choking and kicking him before his horrified mother and siblings at their house in Koblerville on Monday.

The crying mother sought help from her neighbor upon seeing her son already weakened by the beating in the hands of Jesse Billy Wailuw Jr., 38. The boy’s saliva was reportedly dripping from his mouth and white bubbles were also coming out of his mouth due to the severe beating.

At a hearing on Wednesday, Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman imposed a $10,000 cash bail for Wailuw’s temporary release.

Police arrested the suspect Monday night on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, child abuse, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

Police detective Isapen Bokuku stated in her report that, according to Wailuw’s common-law wife, the defendant came home and asked for the whereabouts of their 14-year-old son. Wailuw then got angry, lectured his wife, and threw a slipper at her, hitting her on the head.

Wailuw left on a pickup truck and later came home with their 14-year-old son. He then allegedly started beating the boy with tangan tangan wood several times on his back, legs, and hands. The boy was crying and yelling at his father to stop.

The mother was helpless as she was scared because he might also beat her. She was crying, yelling, and begging her husband to stop because she was worried that their son was going to die as she saw him getting very weak already.

The boy later told police that he was with some friends at a basketball court in the Koblerville housing area when his 9-year-old brother and a sister came looking for him. They told him that their father was looking for him. As they were walking on their way home, Wailuw came on the truck and told them to get on the vehicle.

Once home, Wailuw allegedly threw a piece of pipe at the boy but he was able to duck. The boy asked what he did wrong, but his father allegedly pulled him by the neck and began beating him with the wood.

Fearing for his life, the boy ran into the road toward their neighbors. His father chased him and grabbed him by his hair and dragged him back to their house.

Wailuw then allegedly hit the boy’s head on the truck’s door below the side mirror. He then choked his son and pushed him to the floor.

The boy said he was breathless and felt very weak, but his father kicked him on the forehead and again on the body.

Wailuw grabbed the boy and pushed him toward the trash bin by the road. The boy fell to the ground. A neighbor came running and stopped Wailuw.

The boy said it was not the first time his father beat him up. He said he, along with his siblings, are living in a violent home as they have witnessed their father also beat up their mother.
