Fat and sassy

I am proud of my country and being a U.S. citizen. Several other locals are not though they pretend to be. Do I believe the U.S. military should be allowed training facilities on Tinian and Pagan? Absolutely, within reason. Why? Those fat and sassy can’t/will never see the big picture: to protect their behinds by establishing a defensive shield against Red China’s moves to dominate the oceans around us. Meaning?

China has falsely stated its historic ownership to the thousand square miles of the South China Sea and in the Spratly Islands it’s currently dredging from sea bottom coral to construct hundreds of hectares of new land on once reefs and shoals for specific military purposes. Adjoining Asian nations, of course, with like ownership claims are contesting China’s bullying actions. The potential for war is all too real. Our U.S. military has upped its presence there. China also attempted to cower Japan last year by establishing a no-fly-shoot-you-down zone over the East China Sea. Our U.S. military immediately tested China by flying over and sailing through the zone. So far no missiles have been launched—yet. And let’s not forget communist Russia swiped Crimea from Ukraine and is now attempting to annex all of eastern Ukraine by military force. Russia’s Pacific naval base is at Vladivostok a couple thousand miles north of the Marianas. A one-two threat too close for comfort. What I’ve pointed out here the F&S are blithering blind not to see.

Here’s some questions for the fat & sassy: why hasn’t China stolen (both) the SCS and shot down our airplanes over the ECS? Why hasn’t Red China launched an attack against the Marianas and the western coast of the USA? Answer: the U.S. military’s presence in Hawaii, Guam, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Australia. They need more bases to strengthen its ability to respond in event of any and all hostile attack(s).

I bring to mind the Marianas Variety, July 3, 2015 edition, open letter by Tinian mayor Joey San Nicolas. The first half of his opinion, steeped in ideology and cleverly couched in political mug-wumping, implied loyalty to America. The second half spoke to his true belief: fat and sassy. Too comfortable with living under the U.S. flag, he stated: “DOD’s proposed plans is a bad policy and will have a long-lasting detrimental effect on the lives of the people of the CNMI.” He knows nothing. Guam, Hawaii, and every other country with U.S. bases have survived and prospered on the military’s dime. F&S Joey wants “detrimental” as in Armageddon? Take to the hills. Without the protection of the U.S. military Joey won’t have time to take back his words after one rocket or missile or .50 caliber bullets shreds him and his.
