The Falcons recorded the most lopsided victory so far in the Major division of the 2014 Saipan Little League Baseball after pummeling the Jets, 32-1, last Saturday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfiled.
It took the Falcons only three innings to end the Jets’ misery and regain the top spot in the 15-team field with their 10-1 record.

The Jets remained at the bottom half of the team standings with their 1-9 mark.

A 12-run bottom of the first ignited a Falcons breakaway. Six of the Falcons’ top of the order batted twice in the first and three scored twice. In the second inning, the Falcons were still unstoppable, racking up 18 runs. Only one of the batters at the top of the order failed to reach home, but in their second at bat all nine scored. Zack Reyes drilled three runs at the bottom of the second, outscoring the entire Jets crew, who made only one unearned run at the top of the second.

Arby Yaguel finished off the Jets with two quick strikeouts at the top of the third. The Jets were called for the second out earlier, as their leadoff batter was beaten to second. Yaguel allowed no hits and walked only two runners in the route.

The one-sided win over the Jets was a fitting follow-up on the Falcons’ 25-1 demolition of the Twins in a make-up game last Wednesday.

The Falcons also got off to a jackrabbit start, firing 17 runs in the first inning to set up the easy win. The Falcons slowed down a bit in the second three runs, including a solo homer from Angel Iguel. Two more homers, one each from Aven Evangelista and Yaguel, at the top of the third capped the Falcons’ dominance of the hapless Twins (0-10)
Iguel went 4-for-4 for the Falcons and scored seven RBIs, while Evangelista added four RBIS and was also perfect at bat, going 3-for-3.

Enforcers 16, Jets 5
In another make-up game last week, the Enforcers (6-4) downed the Jets.

The Enforcers bagged seven runs each in the second and fourth inning to secure the win two innings early.

Holding a shaky 1-0 lead after one complete inning, the Enforcers notched five unearned runs in the second for a 9-0 advantage.

After two scoreless innings, the Jets made it to the board in the third with three runs and got two more in the fourth, but the Enforcers countered with eight runs in the last two innings for the early decision via a 10-run mercy rule.

Little Legals 17, Red Sox 5
In the third game last Saturday, the Little Legals (7-4) topped the Red Sox (3-7).

The Little Legals hit their targets early and then closed out strong after struggling in the middle innings to extend their streak to three.

The Kagman-based squad collected nine runs in the first two innings to gain control of the match and they tallied eight runs in the last two. Gloyd Martin led the Little Legals with his three RBIs and 3-for-5 performance at bat. The Little Legals starting pitcher also logged three runs and two doubles.

Meanwhile, the IP&E Rockies (5-6) won the second game last Saturday after a no-show from Comets II (2-9).
