The Falcons have bagged their second win of the Tan Holdings-Saipan Baseball League 2023 season after they soared past the Bandits, 9-8, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field last Wednesday night.
Both teams were tied at seven runs in the last inning which forced an extra inning. Into the eighth, the Bandits’ Harry Nakamura knocked in their eight run with a base-hit which brought in Juan Iguel.
When it was the Falcons’ turn, two runs scored from an error by the Bandits and a sacrifice fly to end the game by one, 9-8.
The Falcons had an early lead as they scored three runs in the first after a lead-off walk, then another walk, followed by a two-RBI triple by Jordan Suel. He was in turn brought in by a base hit from Henry Augon.
The Bandits’ John Wilson came home after he stole second and was brought in by a single from Ben Taisacan. However, the Bandits were silenced in the next three innings by Falcons pitcher Zeze Lifoifoi.
The second inning was another three-run inning for the Falcons as Peter Lieto came home and Ian Norita hit a double. He was then brought home by Giovanni Mira’s single.
The Falcons went scoreless in the third and fourth inning and got a piece of the ball with a base hit from Henry Aguon, who advanced to second with a stolen base.
It was a slow burn for the Bandits as they had a three-run fourth inning after Juan Iguel was hit by a pitch, followed by two consecutive walks by Wilson and Nakamura, who were then brought in by Jesus Iguel.
The seventh inning stretch was another three-run inning for the Bandits as back-to-back base hits by Taisacan and Jesus Iguel allowed Emu Wally to bring them home.
In the standings, the Falcons and Cardinals are on top with two wins apiece. The Bandits are at 1-1. While with one win each are the Bears and the Natives. The Blue Jays, D-9er’s, Junior Nationals, Brewers, SPC Survivors, and Braves have one loss each.
