Saipan Golfers Association president Mariano Fajardo won the club’s November Ace of the Month Tournament held last Oct. 23 at the Kingfisher Golf Links.

Mariano actually finished third place out of a field of 15 with his net score of 71, but he won the title as first place finisher Das Krishnan and runner-up Jose I. Sablan already won previous SGA monthly competitions, making them ineligible for the November plum.

Krishnan ruled the day with a net tally of 68 that was complemented by closest to the pin honors on hole No. 15 and a pair of birdies.

Sablan tied Fajardo with a 71 net card, but was awarded a second place based on the SGA tiebreaker rules.

Notably, Jun Eun Teack won closest to the pin on hole No. 6, Manny Blas on hole No. 8, and Ray San Nicolas on hole No. 12.

In addition, Blas, Nick Sablan, and Larry De Leon Guerrero each bagged a birdie, while Teack took the longest drive honors on hole No. 7 with De Leon Guerrero pulling off the same feat on hole No. 14.

Fajardo joins past monthly winners Tony I. DeLeon Guerrero (January), John Cruz (February), Nick C. Sablan (March), Edward Manibusan (April), Ray M. San Nicolas (May), Jose I. Sablan (June), Danny Quitugua (July), Steve Balakrishna (August), Frances Sablan (September), and Das Krishnan (October).

Nineteen members still have a chance to win an Ace title this year in SGA’s December Ace of the Month, which is set to tee off at 10:30am this Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort’s west course. Show time is 9am.

The December Ace incidentally will also serve as SGA’s Annual Turkey Shoot.

SGA’s finale Ace of Aces Championship, meanwhile, is scheduled from Nov. 26 to 27. Day 1 will be held at Coral Ocean Point and the final round will take place at Kingfisher. Showtimes are set at 9am with 10:30am shotgun starts.

The season-ending awards ceremony will be held at a later date. Its venue and time are still pending.
