FA Cup semis cast complete

The 2011 Boys and Girls FA Cup (boys U12 and girls U15) is now down to four teams after the second round was played last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.
Left standing in the 10-team FA Cup are Paire boys U12, MP United girls U15, MP United boys U12, and Matansa girls U15, which prevailed in their respective matches last weekend.
Paire boys U12 challenged Shirley’s FC boys U12 in the first game at Pitch 2 and won, 4-0, while over the Pitch 1, MP United girls U15 was the victory via forfeiture against Shirley’s FC girls U15. Shirley’s was forced to forfeit the match, as some of its players could not make it to the 1pm game, as they were off-island for a separate competition.
With MP United girls U15 and Paire boys U15 winning in separate matches, they will collide in the semifinals in Pool A on Dec. 5 at 4pm at Pitch 1 at Hopwood.
Paire marched into the Final Four and eliminated Shirley’s boys U12 after drawing goals from four different players.
Michael Lee put Paire in the scoreboard with his goal in the first half of the 60-minute game and the score remained at 1-0, as Shirley’s failed to find any hole on its foe’s defense.
Shirley’s continued to struggle offensively in the second half, while Paire was right on the money, getting one goal each from Gideon Borja, Alan Hinson, and John Auther for the shutout win.
Meanwhile in the Pool B semis, it will be Matansa girls U15 versus MP United boys U12.
Matansa edged Paire girls U15 in a shootout, 2-0, while MP United boys U12 notched a convincing 9-0 victory over Tan Holdings girls U15.
MP United got two goals apiece from three players, while three others also lit up the scoreboard. Wataru Tajima hit back-to-back goals in the first half and several minutes later, it was Sun Joon Tenorio’s turn to score goals in succession to give MP United a commanding 4-0 halftime advantage.
In the second half, Alex Park started MP United’s string of goals and Bada Lee followed it up with two straight goals. Jesus Quitano and Sean Hong logged MP United’s last two goals to complete their demolition of Tan Holdings girls U15.
MP United boys U12 and Matansa girls U15 will play in the semifinals also at 4pm on Dec. 5 at Field 2. Winners of the two semis matches will battle for the FA Cup on Dec. 10 at 1pm at Hopwood.
The FA Cup is the culmination of the boys U12 and girls U15 fall league with Tan Holdings boys U12 and Matansa boys U12 also joining the field, but were eliminated early after bowing to Paire boys U12 and MP United boys U12, respectively.
Meanwhile, the FA Cup for boys U15 and U18 and two women’s teams will begin this Saturday at Hopwood and Oleai Sports Complex pitches. At Hopwood, MP United boys U18 will square off against Paire’s women’s team at 8:30am, while Matansa boys U18 will challenge Shirley’s FC women’s squad at 11am. Over at Oleai, MP United Blue will face Matansa boys U15 at 8:30am, while Tan Holdings boys U15 will duel Paire boys U15 at 11am.
