Eye Sees and Mawati pulled off close wins in the 2015 DLX Invitational Basketball League last Friday night at the Gualo Rai Basketball Court.

Mawati edged Team Familia, 55-54, off Jerome Reyes’ putback to improve its record to 2-2, while Eye Sees moved up to a 3-1 card following a 79-74 victory over Maplas (1-3) in the second game.

Reyes drilled the go-ahead basket in the paint in the closing seconds of the match, while Team Familia missed three consecutive shots in the end to absorb its third loss in as many games.

Arjay Nonato top-scored for Mawati with his 14 points, while Reyes also finished in twin digits, knocking in 13. Reyes had a good start, drilling 6 markers in the first period to give Mawati a shaky 17-16 advantage. The game remained close in the last three periods with Randy Pelisamen leading Team Familia and his basket handing his squad its last taste of the lead before Reyes stole the thunder from him with the point-blanked shot.

Pelisamen paced Team Familia with his 21 markers, while Ray Olopai was the other double-figure scorer for the squad with his 11.

In the second game, Eye Sees nailed crucial free throws in the fourth quarter to foil Maplas’ comeback bid.
