According to owner Leila Staffler, “it was my husband’s idea. We were thinking about what are some of the markets that aren’t available on Saipan and with a lot of people renovating and asking my mother-in-law to bring things in from Bali, he said why don’t we open up a store that caters to those needs.”

Pebbles and Stones operates adjacent to Monika’s Furniture on Beach Road besides the Hardt Eye Clinic. Monika Nugent, who is Leila’s mother-in-law, is the primary mentor for the novice businesswoman.

Nugent’s extensive business experience in the CNMI and Bali allowed for the expansion to become a reality, Staffler said.

All items are made of natural stone; nothing is synthetic. They currently offer white marble, pink marble, onyx, and eventually plan to bring in granite products.

When asked about the store’s prices, Staffler said their prices are affordable and comparable to that of Home Depot in Guam.

Items are sold by the box or in smaller quantities for those working on small projects. Special orders are available and shipments usually arrive in six weeks.

At the moment, they do not offer home installations but are looking to offer it in the future.

For those interested, the store is open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and 12pm to 5pm on Sunday.
