Exciting finale seen in Thursday league
The Smoke Pub Magic 8 Ball and Route33 Armatech Hustlers scored similar lopsided wins last week but the former remained on top of the 2014 Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball’s Thursday league.

The Magic 8 Ball continues to hold the fort with a 102-63 win-loss record after breezing through the Barcode Breakers, 11-4. The Smoke Pub-backed squad holds a five-win edge over former leaders Armatech Hustlers, and with less than three weeks left in the regular season, expect both teams to go all out in targeting more wins.
The Hustlers scored a 13-2 triumph over Jonny’s Team SCS to improve their record to 97-68, six wins ahead of Wild Bills (91-74).
Fourth running Jokers Homeboyz (90-75) drubbed National Alamo Car Rental, 12-3, while Wild Bill’s eked out an 8-7 decision against the Poseidon Titans. The Titans (85-80), National Alamo (83-92), Breakers (60-105) and Team SCS (52-113) complete the standings.
In the Tuesday league, the Saipan TV Hustlers and the Jokers IT&E Voyagers are currently tied for the top ranking after colliding last week.
The Hustlers pulled off a 9-6 win against the Voyagers, but it wasn’t enough to put them in solo first place as both squads compiled a 108-57 mark after 165 games.
The Jokers Str8 Shooters are in third place with a 101-64 slate after completing a 12-3 thrashing of Smoke Pub Sang&D’Gang. Jonny’s Crazy 8 also had an easy outing against the Smoke Pub Lancheras, 12-3. Crazy 8 (87-78), Sang&D’gang (63-102) and Lancheras (28-137) are the other competing teams in the Tuesday league.
Only two more play dates in the seven-week regular season are left before the league begin the finals and the Budweiser Cup.
