Ex-USPS officer in mail theft case inks plea deal

A former U.S. Postal Service officer who is accused of stealing a package from the Chalan Kanoa Post Office has entered a plea agreement with the U.S. government.

Assistant U.S. attorney James J. Benedetto, counsel for the U.S. government, requested the U.S. District Court for the NMI on Wednesday to schedule the case against Mark Tyquiengco for a change of plea hearing on Aug. 10, 2017.

The plea agreement was sealed.

The federal court released Tyquiengco on his own recognizance and recently allowed him to travel to Guam.

The indictment charged him with mail theft and theft of mail.

The court set the trial for Aug. 15, 2017.

According to the indictment, Tyquiengco stole a package from a postal box at the Chalan Kanoa Post Office.
