A former firefighter was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a minor girl who was sleeping at a residence in Navy Hill on Saturday.

Jergerson Techur Koshiba, 42, was arrested on Saturday night for sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree and disturbing the peace.

At a hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $50,250 cash bail and appointed assistant public defender Matthew Meyer as counsel for Koshiba. Assistant attorney general Barbara Cepeda appeared for the government.

Preliminary hearing will be on March 8 at 1:30pm.

Police Detective Vincent Igisaiar stated in his report that preliminary investigation showed that the girl was sleeping on the living room couch when Koshiba allegedly touched her private parts.

The girl was awakened and ran for fear to the bedroom, where her mother was sleeping. The girl told the mother what happened.

The mother reported the incident to the police.

Police said there was a party at the house, where a drinking session started Friday at 6pm and ended Saturday at 12am.
