Ex-convict allegedly rapes former girlfriend
Joshua Indalecio Martin, 23, was taken to the Superior Court yesterday on charges of rape, kidnapping, burglary, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Associate Judge Perry B. Inos raised Martin’s initial bail of $35,000 cash to $50,000 cash.
Preliminary hearing is on July 23 at 9am.
Police detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that a police officer was dispatched on Friday at 3:13am to a residence in Afetnas after receiving a call about a rape incident.
When the officer arrived at the house, the 18-year-old victim was crying. The victim told police that her former boyfriend, Martin, raped her in an abandoned house just south of their house.
The officer escorted the victim to the Commonwealth Health Center for examination and treatment.
Pangelinan said that, according to the victim, she was asleep in her bedroom with her 1-year-old baby when her sister woke her up because Martin was in the house. The sister told the victim she had no idea how Martin was able to get inside the house.
The victim and Martin met in the living room. He told her he wanted to talk to her, but she asked him to leave.
Martin allegedly choked the victim’s neck and threatened to kill her if she doesn’t follow him outside.
Martin allegedly kept pushing the victim until they reached the abandoned house where he allegedly raped her.
The victim said she was crying and begging, but Martin continued raping her.
The victim said that Martin was arrested in 2011 for forgery and theft and was released in April 2012.
