Event fundraiser eyes 300 participants
The Pacific Century Fellows’ Northern Marianas Chapter hopes to attract 300 participants from the community for its Back On Our Feet 5-kilometer fundraising event this Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Garapan Fishing Base.
The 5K fitness activity aims to further raise additional funds for Project Ayudu’s rebuilding program of all homes destroyed by Typhoon Soudelor last month.
Project Ayudu, launched early this month, is hoping to raise $150,000 to assist families whose homes were damaged by Soudelor.
Event organizers said those who will join have the option to either run, jog, or walk from the Garapan Fishing Base, right across Kristo Rai Church to Quartermaster Road and back.
Registration forms can be picked up at the first floor of J.P. Center and Century Hotel in Garapan, and Shirley’s Coffee Shop in Susupe. Participants can also register on the day of the event starting at 5am.
Registration fee is $15 per person and it includes a free event T-shirt. Payments can be made by either cash or check and payable to Project Ayudu.
The run, jog, and walk event starts at 6am along Beach Road, where kids strollers and wheelchairs for persons with disabilities will also be allowed.
Organizers are inviting families and friends to join this worthwhile fitness activity, which hopes to bring the community closer together after the devastation brought by Soudelor.
Raffle prizes will be given away after the fun run event.
Those who will join who are under 18 years old must have adult supervision during the run, jog, and walk.
