Eucon holds graduation rites for 7 students
The Eucon International College held its 8th Commencement Exercises last Saturday, May 3, with seven graduates being conferred with Bachelor of Science in Education diplomas.
Liang, Shuang “Susanna”; Liu, Ting “Christine”; Wei, Christiana; Xu, Hui; Xu, Yue Ming “Miriam”; Yan, Rui “Arthur”; Zhu, Hu Lan “Mary”; and Chen, Zhe “David” were conferred with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Bible. Three of them have been accepted for graduate studies at Bob Jones University in South Carolina and Pensacola Christian College in Florida.
The graduates were challenged by former House speaker Heinz Hofschneider to use their education to become good citizens, not only in upholding the law but also in honoring the creator. Hofschneider mainly talked about the separation of the church and state but that the U.S. and CNMI constitutions were also founded on faith.
Saipan Mayor Donald Flores also encouraged the graduates to use the skills and education they gained at Eucon to become better citizens and contribute to the betterment of the community.
The graduates encouraged their fellow students to continue to work harder to reach their goals. Miriam Xue, who has a severe eyesight difficulty, was very thankful for her professors who adjusted to her special physical need. Some professors made the tests or quizzes in bigger prints or lent her their laptops during class to see the notes or gave her their notes so she could see them or else she’ll have to use a magnifying glass.
