“The goal of the contest is to encourage the students to think about the role and importance of Catholic Schools Week, as many of them illustrated in their drawings and essays,” said administrator/principal Carmen H. Atalig. “Their understanding and importance of Catholic Schools Week or Catholic education is a valuable reward.”
“In addition, this was a chance for the students to showcase their God-given talents in drawing and essay writing, and to show appreciation to the many people who make up our Catholic school and the faithful Luta community,” added Atalig.
The students participated in three categories. Category 1 was for the kindergarten to 1st grade level. Category 2 involved the second to fifth grade, while the Essay Category was for the sixth to eighth grade students.
The winners for Category I drawing contest were Edward U. Maratita, III (first grade), first place; John Henry V. Tacud (first grade), second place; and tie for third place Marco Edward B. Hocog and Diah A’Ina Q. Maratita (both first grade)
Category 2 winners for the drawing contest are Marvin DLC. Clitar (fifth grade), first place; Éclair Marj M. Ladao (third grade), second place; and Maria Althea C. Mendiola (fourth grade), third place.
In the essay contest, the winners were Tyra Reese A. Calvo (eighth grade), first place; Aneshia Ciony M. Reyes (seventh grade), and Marjorie J. Banaag (seventh grade), third place.
The event was sponsored by the Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja board of directors.

Jon Takamura (Hawaii).
The administration, students, faculty and staff, and board of directors would like to express their appreciation to the judges from Guam and Hawaii, and donors. (ESFDB)
