Engineers’ group’s Guam event expected to draw hundreds
Early bird registration for the Guam Industry Forum 2018 ends Jan. 15
GUAM—The relocation of Marine Corps facilities to Guam has begun. More than $300 million in construction and development investments over the past year triggered the start of one of the largest investments in military facilities and infrastructure in the Western Pacific within the past 50 years.
The Guam post of the Society of American Engineers will host the Guam Industry Forum from March 7 to 9, 2018, at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort to inform and provide an opportunity for Guam, U.S. and Japanese companies to learn how they can participate, receive details about the program and network to create what is hoped to be a collaborative development effort.
John Robertson, president of the SAME Guam Chapter said, “We’ve been collaborating with representatives from the Navy and the Japanese Ministry of Defense for several months now, and we are proud to be organizing this important event [in] Guam. Response has been favorable from speakers, sponsors and registrants. Local and international businesses, large and small, will benefit greatly from the information presented at this forum.”
The lineup of presenters includes officials from the government of Guam, the U.S. and Japanese governments as well as the private sector. Event details can be found on the SAME event website at guamindustryforum2018.com
The government of Japan has committed several billions of dollars to collaborate projects with the U.S. to complete the program. The total investment by the U.S. and Japan will be more than twice that when the relocation program is completed.
Several hundred participants are expected to attend and take advantage of the opportunity the forum provides. The three-day event is designed to provide up-to-date information about the program and explore ways to make the relocation efforts a success for all participants and for Guam. There will be ample networking opportunities and the information presented will be timely and beneficial. The forum will provide the kind of information necessary for local companies to position themselves to be successful participants.
The early bird discount rate ends on Jan. 15, 2018. Visit guamindustryforum2018.com to register and be a part of the forum. (PR)
