Energy conservation awareness event this April 23
The Department of Public Works/Energy Division Office, in collaboration with other government agencies and private sector companies, will be hosting the 2016 Saipan Energy Conservation Awareness Campaign on April 23, 2016. There will be two sessions (morning and afternoon) at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multipurpose Center located in Susupe.
The schedule of events is as follow:
– 1st session—from 9am to 11am
– 2nd session—from 2pm to 4pm
The event will provide the residential community tips on how to conserve energy at home, how to save money using energy efficient products that carry the Energy Star label and educate the community on the importance of energy conservation in the CNMI. Vendors will be providing informative and effective ways to conserve energy at home with energy efficient or Energy Star® rated products to help the homeowners lower energy consumption and save you money.
For participating in this Energy-Efficiency Education and Conservation Program, each attendee will receive one energy reusable shopping bag and other energy-related products. Also, attendees will have a chance to walk away with either, a 16” Pedestal Fan to reduce the heat gain and increase the cooling efficiency of the home, or a Portable Gas Stove to lower energy use and cost when preparing food, instead of using a traditional electric range.
Due to limited seating for event, interested individuals must pre-register with the CNMI Energy Division office to confirm seating beginning, Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 7:30am to 11:30am and from 12:30pm to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, except weekends and holidays. Registrations end on Friday, April 15, 2016. Pre-registered individuals with confirmed seats must present a valid government-issued identification (ID) with photo and proof of active utility account and most current utility bill information in his/her name. Failure to provide such information will be subject to removal of individual’s name from the pre-registration list and denied participation and entry into the event.
This project is made possible through a grant awarded by the US Department of Energy-State Energy Program (SEP). (PR)
