EGSR to host 7th Annual Employer Gala Awards on May 23
50 local employers to be honored in this yearly fete
BARRIGADA, Guam—Fifty Guam employers will be honored for their outstanding support of employees in the Guard and Reserve in the 7th Annual Employer Awards Gala hosted yearly by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Guam-CNMI Committee
This year’s black-tie event will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort and Spa in Tamuning. Keynoting this annual gathering is ESGR national chair, retired Maj. Gen. Paul E. Mock.
Appointed to office in 2013, Mock’s distinguished military career spans a total of 36 years in the U.S. Army Reserve highlighted by his role as the Commanding General of the 377th Theater Support Command in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, overseeing more than 28,000 soldiers, civilians and contractors in Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, Bahrain and the Horn of Africa. In addition, Mock is also retired from the Los Angeles Police Department after 25 years of service.
“We are privileged that our National Chair Mr. Mock is able to take part in this annual event. Most specially, the honor is on us to acknowledge and recognize our Guam employers who continue to support our Guard and Reserve members by providing them with employment opportunities,” said Guam-CNMI ESGR state chair David Sablan, Jr.
Various awards will be given that evening to recognize distinguished local employers. The Pro Patria Award being the highest distinction at the state and territorial level will be awarded to the most deserving employer organizations nominated by a Guardsman or Reservist employee for support provided directly to the service member and their families. In 2014, the Judiciary of Guam made it as a nominee of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, which is the highest recognition by the U.S. government to employers for their outstanding support of employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.
