Easy wins for Swip, Stephen’s Pawnshop

Swip Water and Stephen’s Pawnshop coasted past their respective opponents in the 2017 San Antonio Summer Basketball League last Friday at the San Antonio court.
Swip Water broke away in the third quarter en route to a 91-81 victory over Armatech in the curtain-raiser, while Stephen’s Pawnshop outgunned Arianne Fish Mart in a high-scoring second game, 112-94. Stephen’s Pawnshop got its fifth win in seven games, while Arianne Fish Mart absorbed its fourth loss against two three victories. Swip Water shared Arianne’s 3-4 mark, while late entry Armatech fell to a 1-1 slate.
Ahead by only a deuce at halftime, 40-38, Swip Water enundated Armatech with one basket after another to take a 74-59 lead at the end of the third canto. Jun Alipio Jr. and Jun Tabora teamed up in the Swim Water surge as they scored 10 points apiece in the penultimate frame.
The 15-point margin gave Swip Water enough cushion against Armatech’s rally in the final period.
Tabora paced Swip Water with his 19 points, while Alipio chipped in 18. Three other Swip Water players scored in twin digits, while Jerome Malasarte carried the load for Armatech with his 29 markers.
In the second game, Sean Rabasto, Jack Aranda, and Matt Duenas were on fire for Stephen’s Pawnshop, as each scored 20-plus points to help their team past the century mark.
Rabasto sizzled for 29 points, while Aranda and Duenas contributed 25 and 22, respectively. With the trio hitting their targets, Stephen’s Pawnshop posted double-digit lead at the end of each quarters.
Rabasto and Duenas made 10 points apiece in the first quarter, lifting Stephen’s Pawnshop to a 29-19 advantage. Duenas and Rabasto were then held to two field goals in the second canto, but Aranda was there to keep things in order for Stephen’s Pawnshop, tallying 7 points. Mii Tekopua also helped out, logging 8 of his 11 points in the second frame that ended with Stephen’s Pawnshop still up by 10, 53-43. Aranda then teamed up with Duenas and Rabasto in the second half to beat Arianne gunner Elgene Mangali and Ken Viray.
