E-Land Group has signed up as a sponsor of the Green Gala, which is set for Sept. 15 at Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan.

The Green Gala is a fundraising event of the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance. This year marks over 10 years of the organization’s existence.

E-Land’s $5,000 sponsorship of the Green Gala makes it an emerald sponsor. According to CEO/President of Micronesia Resort Incorporation (E-Land Group), Matthew Park, they want to help conserve the environment and Saipan’s natural beauty.

“We are living on Saipan and we are doing business here. One of the things why we are here is because we fell in love with the natural beauty of Saipan. With that, I feel we need to help conserve and protect the environment,” Park said.

This is not the first time that E-Land is supporting MINA’s Green Gala. According to MINA executive director Roberta Guerrero, this kind of cooperation with E-Land gives the community the idea that everyone on the island is in this together.

“E-Land Group has always been a big supporter and, especially this year, they’ve seen a real challenge in keeping our beaches clean for our community and guests as well,” said Guerrero.

“Our partnership with them…is really invaluable and the assistance that they are giving will allow us to continue managing our programs, not only our TASI rangers, but also our schools for environmental conservation,” she added.

“This year, we have a great program for reforestation. There are so many beaches that still don’t have trees after Soudelor so we are really hoping we can get some of that work done this year. With the participation of E-Land Group…that’s really possible,” Guerrero said.

In addition to lively entertainment, dinner, and beverages, the Green Gala will feature highlights from MINA’s projects, a silent auction, and many other activities that promise a memorable evening to celebrate over 10 years of working with island communities for conservation. Proceeds would be used to fund MINA projects throughout the year.

MINA has worked to implement various conservation projects, including the Plastic Bag Challenge, the Schools for Environmental Conservation workshops, the Marine Debris Prevention program, Tasi Watch Program, the Adopt-A-Bin Project, and Managaha Pride Campaign.

The partnership between E-Land Group and MINA shows the community that the conservation and protection of the environment cannot be done by one entity.

“We are all in it together, not just for our community but for our visitors as well living in a sustainable environment so we can pass it on to our children and to our children’s children,” said Guerrero.

“We believe that MINA is doing a great job, that is why we continue to support their causes and activities,” Park said.
