The Marianas Public Land Trust recently donated educational tools and health-related items to the Division of Youth Services.

Donations came from the 100 or more sponsors that had booths at the International Federation of Employee Benefits Program conference held last Nov. 16 in Orange County, Florida.

“We should always think about our youth with whatever we do. Whatever training we receive, anything we get, we should think about how they can benefit the youth. They are our future and the more we teach and give them, I believe, would create positive outcomes,” said MPLT chair Martin Borja Ada.

DYS special assistant Shelane Borja thanked MPLT.

“The Youth Affairs office is greatly appreciative of the donation today and we are excited to give them to the participants this year as well as some of supplies we’re gathering. Some of the participants are from families who don’t have that much this holiday season so we try our best to see what we can.”

“We hope this could bring other agencies to donate whatever goods they can for the centers. …Whatever the community can offer, whatever they have at their houses is acceptable. We are also trying to help out our partner agencies like DYS and Karidat because we know they have a lot to work with,” said Borja.

For those wishing to donate, call 234-0543, email shelane.borja@gov.mp, or visit the youth centers in San Antonio, Koblerville, or Gualo Rai. The centers are open Tuesdays to Saturdays.
