The Division of Youth Services of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs coordinated the first “Child Welfare Capacity Building Collaborative” technical assistance session on Nov. 23, 2015. A total of 24 participants joined the call, including Rota and Tinian DYS personnel and three DYS interns from the Northern Marianas College.
The CWCB technical assistance was made possible by the Children’s Bureau under the Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. All states, territories and tribes receiving funds administered by the Children’s Bureau are eligible for services from the Collaborative. Because the Collaborative is a five-year program, the DCCA-DYS will be involved in a series of technical assistance for the next four years.
The purpose of the technical assistance is to build capacity within the child welfare agency, in this case DYS, to increase coordination, leverage resources and provide more strategic service provisions for clients served. This will include a series of calls and/or visits for assessments/information sharing, capacity building action plan and program implementation.
