A drunk 19-year-old man allegedly smashed the windows of a pickup truck that belongs to the boyfriend of his former girlfriend and then later crashed his own car into a ditch near Saipan International School in As Lito early Wednesday morning.

Police arrested Paul T. Bowie Jr. for criminal mischief and disturbing the peace. His bail was set at $500 cash.

Police detective Francisco Romeo O. Iginoef stated in his report that police officer Jonathan Decena went to a house in As Lito on Wednesday at 2:03am in response to a disturbance report.

Iginoef said that Bowie’s former girlfriend told police that she was about to sleep at 2am when she heard a vehicle’s engine revving and burning rubber outside her house.

The woman went out to the living room, where her boyfriend and her two friends were. Soon after, they heard Bowie revving the engine of his car and heading away from the house.

They went outside and checked the boyfriend’s pickup truck that was parked by the roadside in front of the Taiwan Commercial building and found out that all its glass windows had been smashed.

Iginoef said that Bowie’s companion when the incident happened was soon identified and he told police it was Bowie who revved his car outside a house in As Lito and damaged the glass windows of a truck. He said he tried to stop Bowie from damaging the truck, but the defendant didn’t listen to him.

Bowie allegedly smashed the truck’s windows with a rock, then shouted profanities, threw a rock at the house, and revved his car.

Bowie later lost control of the car, causing it to crash into a ditch.
