DPS sets DUI/Sobriety Checkpoints

The CNMI Department of Public Safety, Police Division, Traffic Section, will be conducting DUI/Sobriety Checkpoints today, Feb. 6, 2012

-First setup-6pm to 7:15pm, Beach Road Susupe, in front of Minatchom Atdao.

-Second setup-8:30pm to 9:45pm, Chalan Pale Arnold, Gualo Rai adjacent to the CRM Office.

-Third set up-10:30pm to 11:45pm, Beach Road, Chalan Laulau, adjacent to Dr. Benusto Kaipat’s residence.

Each DUI/Sobriety Checkpoint will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes). This activity is part of the Commonwealth State Police, Department of Public Safety’s effort to Deter, Detect and Apprehend impaired drivers, and to ensure that all passengers are wearing proper restraining devices, seatbelts or car seats.

In addition, Traffic and Highway Patrol Officers will be conducting Highway Criminal Interdictions, Saturation Patrols, Aggressive Driver Interdictions, and Laser (Speed Detection) Enforcement.
