DPS sets DUI Sobriety Checkpoints on Dec. 31

The CNMI Department of Public Safety, Commonwealth State Police Division, Traffic Section will be conducting DUI Sobriety Checkpoints on Dec. 31, 2014.

• First checkpoint: 1800-1915 hrs. Beach Road, Garapan in front of the old Wendy’s Restaurant, on the northbound lane.

• Second checkpoint: 2030-2145 hrs. Chalan Pale Arnold, Chalan Lau Lau, in front of IT&E, on the southbound lane.

• Third checkpoint: 2230-2345 hrs. Beach Road Susupe, in front of Minatchom Atdao, on the southbound lane.

Each DUI/Sobriety Checkpoint will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes). This activity is part of the Commonwealth State Police, Department of Public Safety’s effort to Deter, Detect and Apprehend impaired drivers, and to ensure that all passengers are wearing proper restraining devices, seatbelts or car seats.

In addition, Traffic and Patrol Officers will be conducting Highway Criminal Interdictions, Saturation Patrols, Aggressive Driver Interdictions, and Laser (Speed Detection) Enforcement. (DPS)
