DPS releases photos of masked killer
The Department of Public Safety released yesterday nine photos of the masked man who fatally shot security guard James Patrick Deleon Guerrero at Royal Poker in Afetnas on Tuesday morning.
With the release of the photos, DPS is hoping that someone in the community could identify the gunman.
The still photos were taken from the footage of a video surveillance camera at Royal Poker.
DPS acting spokesman Jason Tarkong said the surveillance footage shows the armed suspect going inside the poker arcade and forcing Deleon Guerrero at gunpoint into the bathroom.
The suspect then approached the cashier window and the female cashier hid under the cashier’s booth.
Gunshots followed and then the gunman fled the scene on foot toward Beach Road, San Antonio. Police were contacted and responded at 5:47am.
Tarkong said police discovered the body of the 39-year-old Deleon Guerrero in the bathroom. Police said the victim was shot in the back.
A source said the gunman possibly used a revolver pistol.
The suspect is described as about 5’8” to 5’10” tall and medium built. He was wearing a gray military pattern dress uniform with black mask covering his face.
DPS Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero said they would like some forensic analysis done first before they release information as to what type of handgun was used.
The commissioner said the suspect failed to get any money from the poker arcade because the cashier had locked herself inside the cashier’s booth.
The victim, a resident of Chalan Kanoa, is a first cousin of Commissioner Deleon Guerrero. When the shooting happened, his minor son and common-law wife were in Guam.
