DPS: No special program for drivers after 7pm
The CNMI Department of Public Safety has denied a rumor making i
ts way through online platforms stating that DPS has a new program for drivers on the road after 7pm.
In a “Rumor Control” statement issued last Friday, DPS said that his rumor is false.
“There are no programs or special sign-up sheets that DPS is offering for drivers who are utilizing the island’s roadways from 7pm through 6am the following morning,” the DPS statement said
It reminds the public that only first responders, medical workers, law enforcement officers, and private sector employees on duty within the curfew hours are the only ones allowed to be on the island’s roads during the curfew hours.
Any person going to or returning from admission at the hospital or completion of medical treatment such as hemodialysis is excused as well.
“Vehicle operators who violate this order will be subject to penalties provided under the law. The CNMI Department of Public Safety would like to remind the public to only share official and accurate information and verified notices, press releases, and advisories from official sources.”
Curfew hours in the CNMI is from 7pm to 6am the next day. (PR)
