Police are investigating the death of a 29-year-old Chinese man who was found Friday morning on the terrace area of the second floor of the 18-story Grandvrio Resort, which was formerly called Hafadai Beach Hotel on Saipan.
Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Jason Tarkong said the investigation is ongoing and that further information will be released when available.
Tarkong said on Friday at 6:26am, police responded to Grandvrio Resort after receiving report about a possible dead person.
Tarkong said upon arrival, police met with witnesses and hotel’s staff who came across the victim, who was found on the terrace area of the second floor.
The victim had no pulse and was not breathing when police came.
Tarkong said police learned the victim’s name, but his name will not be released pending notification of the next of kin.
“At this point of time, DPS Commonwealth Bureau of Investigation is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the victim,” Tarkong said.
The victim was transported to the Commonwealth Health Center, where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Jeremy Seelinger at 8:43am.
Tarkong did not indicate in the report what type of injuries the victim sustained after the deadly fall. He also did not specify whether he is a tourist.
