Public Lands Secretary Oscar M. Babauta said that his department no longer has a legal service contract with Braddock Huesman, and is now using solely the services of the Office of the Attorney General.

“Since Aug. 1, Huesman is no longer with DPL as counsel. The AG’s Office assigned Mr. Michael Stanker to help DPL,” Babauta told Saipan Tribune.

The Department of Public Lands awarded last year a sole-source legal service contract of $54,000 a year to Huesman, a former assistant attorney general who was assigned at DPL.

But Babauta said DPL has to share the services of the assistant attorney general with other government agencies. DPL has yet to say whether it plans to enter into another contract with a private law firm.
