Donations for Rota are pouring in
The Karidat Association of Saipan CNMI receives $2,500 from the Chinese United Association of Saipan. The amount was pooled from donations made by I Love Saipan, QQ Car Rental, Pretty Tour Car Rental, Capital Hotel, Xo Market, Hanamitsu Hotel, Twins Market, Lucky De Market, Feng Ni Beauty Salon, U Save Car Rental, and Micronesia Car Rental. The Karidat Association of Saipan CNMI has been at the receiving end of a flood of donations from various private individuals and companies that will be used to help Rota residents in the wake of the damage brought by Typhoon Dolphin.
The organization has already received a total amount of $5,500 as of yesterday.
The Korean Association yesterday chipped in $500, while the Chinese United Association of Saipan gave $2,500, which were donated by companies I Love Saipan, QQ Car Rental, Pretty Tour Car Rental, Capital Hotel, Xo Market, Hanamitsu Hotel, Twins Market, Lucky De Market, Feng Ni Beauty Salon, U Save Car Rental, and Micronesia Car Rental.
Chinese United Association president Allen Xie, vice president James Han, and Henry Li presented the check to Karidat executive director Lauri Ogumoro on Monday.
Micronesia Resort, Inc., through its subsidiary Coral Ocean Golf Resort, also donated $2,500 to Karidat to use for food purchases.
According to Ogumoro, the donated funds will be used to buy food, mainly rice and canned goods such as tuna and luncheon meat, which are the items most needed on Rota right now.
Ogumoro added that they are still accepting donations from those who want to help the typhoon victims on Rota.

“We’re very grateful to those who donated, especially the individuals who continue to support us,” she said.
Additional donations
Coral Ocean Point also donated $2,500 worth of camp stoves and butane gas for the residents of Rota.
A total of 100 camp stoves and 43 boxes of butane gas were donated by the group and were received by Senate President Victor B. Hocog (Ind-Rota).
Sen. Steve Mesngon (R-Rota) was also present in the meeting and expressed his appreciation for the relief activity.
According to the resort’s operations director, Dennis Seo, their donations were on the way to Rota as of yesterday.
“This is our way to give back to the community,” Seo said.
