Domestic violence program is dissolved

Share

The Domestic Violence Intervention Center Program was dissolved during a special meeting on Dec. 30, 2016, by the Family Violence Task Force. The members of the FVTF made a unanimous decision during the annual meeting of Jan. 12, 2017, that the victim services provided through DVIC will continue to be provided by partner agencies.

Effective Jan. 30, 2017, the advocates assigned at the DVIC Office on Capital Hill Building 1233 were relocated to the Victim Witness Advocacy Unit of the Office of the Attorney General in Susupe. The FVTF will maintain the former DVIC office as Lugat Pas/ Lelyal Ghilammwey/Place of Peace.

Lugat Pas will serve the CNMI as a domestic violence resource and advocacy center. The center will continue to be the safe space to facilitate positive partnerships among FVTF members and will address issues and concerns related to domestic and family violence in the CNMI. (PR)
