The CNMI Department of Labor-Workforce Investment Agency held business engagement-information sessions on March 2 on Tinian and March 8 on Rota. Members of the business community, from both public and private sectors, received information on services from the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and the CNMI Apprenticeship State Expansion Programs to support their workforce needs. Both sessions were well attended.

“This [was] the first time we held an info session for both islands under the WIOA and the CNMI ASE Programs and we plan to hold more of these sessions in the near future,” said Labor Secretary Vicky Benavente, who was pleased to see the amount of participation from local businesses. “It was nice to see the different businesses attend our info sessions and the engagement during the presentations,” she said.

Employers are vital partners to the WIOA service delivery system. The main goal for these sessions is to put greater emphasis on engaging employers as partners.

For additional information on becoming a partner of the WIOA and/or the CNMI Apprenticeship State Expansion Program, call (670) 664-1708 or email at cnmiwioa@dol.gov.mp or apprenticeship@dol.gov.mp. (PR)
