Document copying assistance for PUA/FPUC applicants
The Office of Rep. Luis John Castro (R-Saipan) is offering document copying assistance for Precinct 1 constituents applying for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. This assistance is available to Castro’s constituents every Tuesday and Wednesday, 9am to 2pm, beginning today until Dec. 26.
The project is the first for Castro’s office, after being back online following the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is the first project that we decided to do, to help our constituents who are applying for PUA funding, to at least to help them get their documents ready in time. There may be those who might have financial difficulties, that even a Xerox copy for just a few sets, might be a little too much,” he said.
Castro is reaching out to all who have been furloughed or terminated to go to his office to be assisted. Services offered include printing, copying, and scanning of documents needed to apply for PUA, such as government-issued ID, Social Security card, tax forms, proof of earnings, among others.
He advices his constituents to prepare the documents beforehand. “If you have all of that put together, it streamlines the process a little bit,” he said. “What our office wanted to do is go to these individuals, if they want to get their documents copied and ready for eventually when the process is opened by the Department of Labor. They can use the resources of our office to get their documents situated.”
Due to social distancing directives, as well as to ensure confidentiality of the documents, all who want to avail of the services have to schedule an appointment. A staffer in Castro’s office will be there to assist and provide the services on the date of the appointment.
“Our office is pretty small. We want to practice social distancing too so it’s on an appointment basis. Also, some of these documents are sensitive so we want to make it where they’re in strict confidence,” he added.
To make an appointment, contact 664-8903 (between 8am to 3pm), 670-285-9117, 670-287-6032, 285-0728, or email staff.rep.castrolj@cnmileg.gov.mp or repljcastro@gmail.com.
